Daisy-Chainable Ethernet I/O Helps Cut Huge Wiring Costs

Gas pipeline tunnel’s temperature monitoring is crucial for the operation safety. In a confined space, temperature rises easily. The overheating might case the fracture of pipeline that can lead to gas leakage and possible explosion, so the temperature needs to be monitored closely. However, the unique long shape of tunnel means that more home run cables must be made to link every I/O data acquisition device back to the SCADA.

To meet the requirement of real-time monitoring and cabling demand, ioLogik E1240
8AI daisy-chainable I/O make a perfect solution to this application. ioLogik E1240 has
2 switch ports that can be used to chain one E1240 to another cutting wiring costs up
to 15%. Moreover, ioLogik E1240 supports Active OPC Server that enables real-time
update of temperature reading to SCADA. This Active OPC Server utilizes push
technologies that not only reduces the bandwidth significantly but also response time.
Compared with traditional polling mechanism that puts extra loading to the network
and SCADA CPU, push-based tag update to Active OPC Server also alleviates the
system loading greatly. The auto tag generation design brings additional benefits to
SCADA builders for it takes just a few clicks and a press of tag generation bottoms to
generate 8 analog tags.

Why Moxa?

  • Instant tag update w/ Active OPC Server provides real-time monitor
  • Daisy-chainable Ethernet reduces wiring costs
  • Active report reduce network traffic
  • Analog on-change percentage threshold setting reduce unnecessary network
  • traffic
